If your child having a new bike for Christmas or you are looking to get some basic cycle training for them – then the free Christmas ‘Cycling with Confidence’ camps’ could be for you.

Cardiff Council Road Safety Centre in Crown Way, Maindy is hosting four half–day camps for children aged between seven and 11 who wish to improve their cycling ability.

Bike handling skills will be developed in a controlled environment away from roads and simple bike checks and safety advice will also be included.

The training will help children improve their balance and control of the bicycle, give hand signals whilst cycling and have some fun!

Each camp will last for two hours and will take place on Tuesday December 29 and Wednesday December 30. Children can either attend a morning 10am to 12noon session or an afternoon 2pm to 4pm session and will need to be residents of Cardiff.

The training is suitable for children who can already ride unaided and is open to all who possess their own bikes. The wearing of a cycle helmet is compulsory and these can be purchased from the centre for £8 each.

Places are limited to a maximum of six children per camp. To book your child on your choice of cycling camp, please contact Germaine Walsh on 029 20 788527 or email gwalsh@cardiff.gov.uk
